Under Construction…
Statement
For nearly a decade, I confined my daily practice to boxes, nurturing within myself a growing longing to explore materials that would enable deep dives into the expressive, the divine, and the cosmic - a realm where I can recall and embrace sensations fostering flexibility and malleability.
Years later, encountering the life and work of psychiatrist Nise da Silveira (1905-1999), I recognized that my practice of wearables and birds has always been tied to what she termed the "scaphander": plunges into the unconscious. These gestures turn inward to the research, in every silent predawn at the atelier-box. Over years of production, I have observed the varied germination times of different seeds, which taught me to see forms as a medium for non-verbal communication.
In my work, I activate these bonds through cutouts, embroideries, sewing, crochet, and collage. Incorporating these practices - in dialogue with anthroposophical principles - reintegrates the body with nature, revives heritages, and evokes the biomorphic movement of the early twentieth century, within this interweaving of forms emerging through time. Thus, wearables, boxes, and fabric cutouts become imaginary extensions of the body, weaving narratives that embrace care and intuition as forces of liberation: devices for passage and shelter.
